Description
Back to Childhood is a Creative XR storytelling project. Aims to commemorate the childhood of users across different age groups. By using virtual scenes to evoke joyful or other profound emotions, achieve an emotional resonance. The core goal is to awaken users' fond memories, providing them a sanctuary to temporarily escape the pressures of real life, thus offering emotional comfort and strength in their daily lives.
The first scene --- the real word
The player finds a book on the table and she opens it, begins her virtual journey.
The second scene --- the indoor children's swimming pool
The player returns to her childhood swimming pool, where she used to play around all the time.
The third scene --- the outdoor swimming pool
The player can realize the healing effect by continuously watching the sky change. In the pool, players can swim through the water.
The fourth scene --- the living room
The player can unwind by playing TV and listening to music. When she has completed her journey through her childhood memories, she is brought back to the real world.
Development
This is the project for our one-year program's second-term virtual reality course. We are developing it with Unity for the Quest 2 and Quest 3 platforms, and we will continue to add features for personal parts, such as painting, etc. Our inspiration comes from three main applications: Guide Meditation VR, Nature Trek, and Pillow.
Summary
Our project combines storytelling content, interaction mechanisms and environmental effects to achieve emotional resonance and give users a special mental healing effect. From the narrative perspective of view, these three scenarios are themed around the childhood memories of teenagers, so that users can feel emotional resonance. From the perspective of interaction mechanism, we set up the mechanism of pinching the ball, switching the sky box, swimming, opening the photo album, playing TV, listening to the radio, etc., to let the player be more immersed in our interaction experience.
